Default Patterson

Is it me, or does it sound like Patterson's got a cold? I didn't even recognize his voice in Tornadoes. Either way, the files sound great. Thanks a bunch.
Is anyone on this board going to be taping their shows here in SoCal?

the sound system at the club didnt sound that good, and one of the managers was a total asshole and made us move the mic stand from the center to the left side in the middle of a song during the southern bitch set, (even though gene and chard stalled them as long as they could) thats why i didnt put up the southern bitch tape, and we were the only ones taping. the tape would have sounded a lot better in the center, i dont know if maybe thats why patterson sounds rough.

The whole thing sounds really slow to me. Check out Cooley on "Where the Devil Don't Stay". I checked it listening to just the flac, and decoded to wav, and they both sound slow. Anyone else experience this issue?

Hoss.

What was the sample rate of the recording and how was it transferred to the computer......................were the rates the same or is it possible they were miss matched..........???? Because the more I listen the more it sounds like a miss match in sample rates...............kinda sounds like patterson is on luds. ...........either that or I am!!!!!!

Let me say thanks for this recording.sonicly it sounds real nice.....Second none of the following is a flame so please don't take it that way.......
But there is some definite problems speed wise with this recording. first of all the third disc is at 16 bit 48k while the first two are 16bit 44.1K but sound sslllooowww. I was able to speed correct the first two disc.....those of you that have the ability to adjust pitch change the pitch on each song to +1semitones and +36cents...this seem to bring the recording back up to the correct speed.......just resample the third disc to 44.1 and there aren't any speed issues with this disc......

Those of you who don't have this ability should just stop down loading till a fix/repost is put up........otherwise your wasting your time.............

from the source

it looks like no resampling was done. unless it was done in cdwave which can't be good.

Lindsay, will you ask Chard if I can get that southern bitch set sometime, regardless of the sound issues? We miss seeing you both down here. I hope all is well in Boston and you had a great FL vacation.

Hey Jayne,
Yeah, I'll pass the word on to Chard, he should be back in Athens around mid-April and I'll be back for the summer around mid-May, its going to be great to get out of Boston and see some great music for a few months. ~Lindsay

I'm sorry to waste everyone's time if the show isn' t working right, all I did was track the show on cdwave, but I tracked the encore seperately, so I think what happened is something got messed up in the saving process when I saved the tracked wave files of the first two discs from cd wave to the hard drive, I'll take it off the tracker and if you know how to fix it, fine, otherwise just delete the show and move on and I won't put anymore stuff up.

no one is talking shit here. just wondering what the original sample rate was. if you still have the original files from the jb3 right click on them and hit properties. it will tell you the sample rate. sounds to me like the first two were 48k and saving in cdwave may have caused it to resample on the fly.

Indeed...the point was not to make anyone angry...I just thought that perhaps Patterson was really, really wasted.
Does anyone have the ability to 'fix' and re-seed? I don't have all the fancy tools and gadgets, but I sure do like my DBT.

Speaking of which...I'm going on a three (perhaps 4, if I can take my dog) night stand in CA with DBT. Solana Beach, Orange County and LA! Anyone else on this board going?

no no please don't think people are talking shit.........there was just some kind of funky resampling done.....probably by acident.....if you have the original files check the rates................ fix it if you can and re up it to the tracker...the sound is awsome...no one wants you to stop posting.
This kind stuff happen from time to time...lets just fix it and everyone can enjoy it........................the sound of it rocks!!!!!!!
everything is a learning curve............................

Thanks for the show . I was the one standing right in front of you against the walll, and yes it was a fucked up venue for taping & otherwise. Between the stumbling drunks & the security I didn't even get my damn posters signed because they booted us right out the door even though there was 15 min till bar closing time. $%^&*@* I''m still downloading & haven't listened to it yet, but don't get discouraged from taping & putting stuff up.whatever happened to it can probably be fixed. Shame about the Southern Bitch set They could have waited till the end to make you move.
Oh and Gene13, if your'e reading this, I'm going to email you tomorrow about the 1-1 show. Gotta get your email addy out of my car

here's the best pic I manged to get on this night. Pretty sad. My pix usually come out great. I'd rather see DBT at the 40 watt or GA theater any time

hey, sorry guys, ive been ridiculously busy and didnt really have the time or patience to deal with this, so I kind of freaked, but today I sat down and checked everything out and it turns out that my jb3 just recorded it all glitched up because the original recording sounds messed up. But its weird because some parts sound better than others and decoration day probably the worst. Ive probably recorded about 25 shows on it and never had anything happen before, so hopefully its not totally shot. It acts funny sometimes (I know that sounds vague), but also ive been testing the limits of the battery life of the odl and maybe that was it. It automatically records optical input recordings at 44.1, so I dont know really what to say except im glad gene got it on dat and my jb3 is a p.o.s. anyways, thanks to everyone that tried to help me.

[QUOTE=ljrogers]It automatically records optical input recordings at 44.1, /QUOTE]

it should record at whatever the sample rate of the source is when going optical in.
